Voices on the Range – A Youth Cultural Festival, is now in its
fourth year and has established itself as an exciting event on the Darling Downs
cultural calendar.
The festival is staged in April or May of each year and hosted by the University
of Southern Queensland and Fairholme College. It promotes artistic and cultural
talent and attracts up to 4000 students from across the region annually. The
festival program features a wide variety of literary and cultural activities;
these include discussions, live bands, keynote speakers, workshops and a bookstore.
Voices on the Range has featured presenters (authors, playwrights, poets, film makers, journalists and so on) from across Queensland and interstate. Successful author of adolescent texts, Melina Marchetta, renowned playwright Michael Gow and children’s book illustrator, Greg Rogers, are but a few of the well known arts workers to have appeared in the past.
This festival has been possible because of the generosity of our supporters. These include Arts Queensland, The Australia Council, ABC Southern Queensland, The Chronicle, Empire Theatre, Toowoomba City Council, Education Queensland, and Catholic Diocese of Toowoomba; however, there is an urgent need for increased financial support.
Your generous support will help us to produce an event that will continue to take pride of place in Toowoomba’s calendar and one which offers our youth unprecedented opportunities for cultural engagement and enjoyment. All supporters receive invitations to the Festival Launch and other exclusive events. In addition, supporters receive advance notification of the program and free entry to all events depending on the level of support. All donations over $250 are acknowledged in the program and through advertising. To view our supporters options click here.
