Pat Flynn

An ex-professional tennis player and teacher, Pat Flynn writes realistic fiction with a dose of humour for 8-16 year olds. His book The Tuckshop Kid won an Honour Book Prize at the CBCA Book of the Year Awards and his new books include The Trophy Kid and How to Get Dumped.

Pat Flynn grew up running around an old dairy farm in Queensland, before moving to Canberra to attend the Australian Institute of Sport on a tennis scholarship. After playing and coaching on the professional circuit he became a teacher, where his observations of young people - their interests and stories - led to him write a book about a teenage skateboarder called Alex Jackson. Alex Jackson is now a series that has received rave reviews.

Pat Flynn now writes books for a living, in a house near the beach on the Sunshine Coast. He likes to start the day off with a surf and end it walking along the beach with his wife. His latest books include Get Rich Quick, Don't Kiss Girls, How to Get Dumped and Aussie Chomp: The Mal Rider.
